CONSOLACION'S SAROK FESTIVAL

The Sarok Festival Celebration is the main event that marked the Founding Anniversary of the Municipality of Consolacion, which we celebrate every February 14.

The Sarok Festival celebration started during the incumbency of the late Mayor Max Malagar, when the then councilor, now Honorable Mayor, Avelino J. Gungob, Sr. sponsored for the passage of a resolution during the year 1995, which resolution mandated, that henceforth, in commemoration to the early settler’s livelihood occupation, which is the Sarok Weaving activity, the Founding Anniversary of the Municipality of Consolacion shall be celebrated and shall be called the Sarok Festival Celebration, thus, in 1996, the first Sarok Festival was celebrated.

After many years of continued commemoration, the Sarok Festival Celebration has proven its worth preserving the cultural heritage and reminiscing the historical background of our people in Consolacion, more especially, that the impact of the Founding Anniversary Celebration corresponds to the economic and cultural activity of our people when our town has its own humble beginning when its was founded and considered as a Municipality.
